Link na prijevod tekstaPennsylvania Railroad’s well-known H30 Hopper Car will arrive in HO-scale from Bowser. The original prototype was first built in the 1930s and was Pennsy’s Class H30 Hopper Cement Car with 1,973 cubic capacity. This was among the early examples of 70-ton freight cars. The prototype was 39-feet, 6-inches and included 3-bays for unloading and 10 hatches for loading on its roof. A later revised car, H30a, followed and included welded bolsters versus cast bolsters on the originals. During the 1960s, Pennsy increased capacity to 70-ton capacity. Six production runs between 1935 and 1946 totaled over a thousand examples that served Pennsylvania Railroad. The hopper survived to see service for Pennsy-successors Penn Central and Conrail and was gone from the rails by 1981. Norfolk & Western owned a hopper, HC-1, similar to the later H30a version of the Pennsy hopper. Bowser’s H30 Hopper will be the first ready to run HO-scale example of this model.
